Have vs Want

"I want a raise, I want a nicer car, I want a bigger house, I want to finish school, I want to be on vacation, I want I want I want..."

Sometimes we fail to acknowledge and appreciate what we have because we're so concerned with what we want. We couldn't wait to get all those things that we already have: a new shirt, a new car, a better job. But how long before we get back to saying, "I want I want I want." When we concentrate too much on what we want we make forget about what we already have.

"Sometimes we are so caught up in our destination that we forget to appreciate the journey."

Happy Birthday!

No matter how old we are, we seem to get that warm feeling on the day of our birthday. Why does that feeling have to go away?

Our thoughts or actions will determine our feelings. You choose your thoughts. Your thoughts don't choose you. Practice today for how you want to feel tomorrow. Change your thoughts and you change your feelings.

What feelings are you determining today? Your thoughts will determine your attitude. What attitude do you wish to have? What thoughts are you having to obtain that great attitude.

The worst excuse in the world

"I don't feel like it." How many times in our lives have we said this, "I don't feel like it."

Can you control your feelings or your actions? Do you act how you feel? Or do you feel how you act? Sounds strange. But here is the secret. You don't have to act how you feel. You can feel how you act.

Once we start acting a certain way, we will start feeling a certain way. Get yourself to do things you have to do when you have to do them. Quit allowing your feelings to hold you back from your responsibilities.

"Develop the winning edge; small differences in your performance can lead to large differences in your results." ~Brian Tracy

Have you hit a wall?

What are the obstacles in your life? Have they become brick walls that seem impossible to get over?

The brick walls in our lives are there for a reason. The brick walls aren't there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want it. The brick walls are there to keep those out, who don't want it bad enough.~ Ramdy Pausch

Take the direction from desire. If you have the desire for it, desire will push you threw it, over it or it will find you a way around it.

"A shot glass of desire is greater than a pitcher of talent." ~Andy Munthe

When will you be happy?

"When I find the right person, I'll be happy." "When I get revenge on that person, I'll be happy." "When I have enough money to buy what I want, I'll be Happy."

Why do we always want that one thing to happen just to make us happy. Maybe because we are still searching for what happiness really is.

The secret is that true happiness comes from within. No one can make you happy. Happiness is a decision. You can be happy if you decide to be! If what you think about makes you unhappy, then think about something else.

"The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is and the future less resolved than it will be." ~Marcel Pagnol

What do you highlight in your life?

A speaker once asked a women, "When was the last time someone complimented you." Her response was, "I don't remember." She was then asked, "When was the last time someone made a disparaging remark about you." She responded, "Back in high school this kid told me I wasn't pretty enough to go to the prom with him."

There are many moments in our lives. Why do some of us choose to highlight the moments we don't wish to see? Stop highlighting the moments you wish to white out! Highlight the moments you want repeated.

In the dessert the vulture chooses to focus on death. The hummingbird also flies through the desert and focuses all its energy on life. It looks for flowers, plants and other vegetation that it can use to sustain life. Where is your focus?

"Focus your energy on moving forward or you might get stuck right where you are."
