I will not be addicted to my feelings!
This is called Mental Toughness.
Do we let our feelings take over and control what we do? The secret is, "Don't act how you feel." Understand that everything you do is a choice. You choose to do what you want and it is usually linked to how you feel. But guess what, "Don't act how you feel." Get out of your own way. Will power is built on not acting on how you feel. Our addiction to our feelings will make us react, overreact, disrespect others, be bitter, miserable, and wallow in self pity.
How far you go in life, will depend on whether you can put your feelings in your pocket and do what you have to do, when you have to do it, whether you like it or not.
"Tough times don't last. Tough people do."

Can we ever act how we feel? Are there ever good feelings to act on?
I am speaking from being addicted to your feelings. Those who are addicted need practice not acting how we feel. If someone makes us made it might bring us all the way down. But if someone makes us feel great it might bring us all the way up. We should already feel great about who we are and what we have. Some get overly excited just because their child scored a basket. Sometimes when we over react we are saying, "I didn't think you could do it." If we expect good things than it won't be such a surprise in our life. It will be a way of life.
Darren,
Your thought page should be required reading for your players and parents. They might learned something they could have used on New Years Day.
