Special Hello to the Inspiring, Coach McCarthy.
California Highs School Playoff Football Game
Bloomington was leading the football game 24-17 over La Quinta with the ball only 3 yards from a touchdown. If Bloomington just downed the ball, the clock would have run out. But getting greedy, Bloomington ran the ball in the endzone, giving Bloomington a 30-17 lead after failing at a 2 point conversion? (Bloomington was trying to get all the points they can when all they had to do was run out the clock and the game would have been over). At this point senior Thomas Myer from La Quinta was seen sobbing on the sidelines as the game appeared to be his last high school game as a senior.
Then something amazing happened. La Quinta then went 74 yards down the field to score a touchdown with 6 seconds left as La Quinta was still trailing by 6 as the score now was 30-24. La Quinta recovered the kickoff with 2 seconds left. With only one play remaining in the game, the quarterback Ryan Woods of La Quinta threw a 48 yard "Hail Mary" pass (a pass that is thrown high in the air not directed towards anyone) into the endzone. With a plethora of players from both teams jumping up for the ball, The La Quinta Blackhawks actually caught the ball. With the extra point La Quinta went on to win 31-30.
