The devil had decided to pack it up and go out of business. He planned to put all of his tools up for sale. His tools consisted of a malice, hate, envy, jealousy, greed, sensuality and deceit. Off to the side lay a harmless-looking wedge-shaped tool which had obviously been warned down.
A potential buyer asked, "What's that? It's priced so much higher than all of the other tools which aren't nearly as worn." The devil answered, "That's discouragement." "But why is it priced so high?" the customer asked. The devil replied, "Because that's the tool I used to pry open a person's consciousness when I couldn't get near them with any of the other tools. Once discouragement got me inside, I could let all the other tools do their work."
"If no one can discourage you, then no one can defeat you."
