The Week of Wooden. This week of blog entries is dedicated to The Greatest Coach of All Time on and off the court and one of my most significant mentors, John Wooden.
John Wooden died last night at the age of 99. The one thing we must ask ourselves in life is, do we want to be successful or significant? When you are successful you may not be significant. But when you are significant, you are successful. When you die your success dies. But if you are significant to others, when you die your significance lives on. John Wooden is the most significant coach that ever lived.
"He taught us many aspects about life that many children just want to skip over." ~Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
"A coach is someone who can give correction without causing resentment." ~John Wooden
